Narayan Beauty - an ATGB Exclusive

I was fortunate enough to meet the lovely Narayan while in Ojai, CA recently. The founder of Narayan Beauty, I found her and her eponymous line of skincare truly inspirational.

From the packaging to the carefully curated ingredients, to the mantra contained in each bottle, you can clearly see that this line is a true labor of love. And to boot, very few skincare lines can lay claim to adding no water or fillers whatsoever into their products.  Each item is all about its organic and therapeutic ingredients.

Narayan generously gave me the above five products to sample and I will list each one as they are pictured from left to right:

Faceology Affirmation Serum for sensitive skin 

Features extracts rich in antioxidants, vitamins A, C, E, K to heal, hydrate and firm. The essential oils of lavender and chamomile calm the mind and relax the body, giving you a peaceful glow.

Faceology Super Natural Serum (aka No Tox Botox)

Handcrafted with: aloe vera, green tea kombucha, witch hazel, hydrogen peroxide, citric acid, essential oils: sweet orange, lavender and mantra.

Faceology Crystal Clarity Scrub

Hand crafted with: diatomaceous earth, micro dermabrasion crystals, organic aloe, hydrogen peroxide, glycerin, lactic acid, grapefruit seed extract, lavender, clove, sweet orange, geranium essential oils, organic castor oil, wildcrafted apricot kernel oil, organic jojoba oil, emulsifying wax, steric acid, citric acid, allantoin, rosemary extract, witch hazel, ascorbic acid, potassium sorbate, and mantra. Leave on for a few minutes and then wipe off with a dry towel.

My favorites are the affirmation serum as my skin is very sensitive and persnickety. In addition to the soothing lavender and chamomile, I love the inclusion of the pumpkin seed oil and the dash of patchouli (of course!). The Awaken eye cream is another favorite - it's incredibly moisturizing on the skin but isn't heavy. It smells fresh and absorbs quickly. The Atonement spray is a product I find really interesting. The combination of aloe, kombucha, witch hazel and hydrogen peroxide (added for its brightening abilities) is one the most unique blends in a toner I've found. The Super Natural Serum is a powerhouse. Full of active ingredients, its most prominent essential oil is clove - a "hot" oil. The heat brings the blood to the surface with stimulates and encourages collagen growth. The smell is so comforting to me, unfortunately it's not a good EO for rosacea due to the warmth. The interesting thing about clove however is that it is also reputed to be effective in acne fighting so I'm going to use this as a spot treatment. Finally, the Crystal scrub is full of terrific ingredients and doubles as both a mask and an exfoliant. The dermabrasion crystals are very fine and gentle and it leaves your skin silky soft. As my rosacea seems to do better with enzyme exfoliants rather than physical, and the fact that it contains clove, will probably make it something I won't use on a very regular basis, but it's great for someone without those specific issues.

A little about Narayan...

A fellow California girl, her father was a hairdresser and so she was raised in the beauty industry. Her own career in beauty began with nails and she became one of the most sought after nail artists in Beverly Hills, going on to contract with Orly and QVC. After years of focus on external beauty in Hollywood, she wanted to turn her attention to empowerment via internal beauty. Her journey into holistic skin care began with a homemade foot scrub with essential oils and progressed on into her Faceology line. A reiki master and Yogi, Narayan embodies her line with healing energy and mantra.

I was lucky enough to get the scoop on what's in development currently - she's creating a new collection with ormus (a healing mineral) and has been tinkering with fermenting scoby and infusing with various fruit essences. I can't wait to see the finished products!
