Hello Lovelies!
I hope that you have had a delightful summer! I must admit, while I'm enjoying the last nice days here in NYC, I'm also looking forward to Fall...I love a little nip in the air and cozy sweaters. Who's with me?!
I'm so pleased to have the opportunity to share with you a brand lovingly made locally by Irina Adam: Phoenix Botanicals. I feel a special kinship not only with the name Phoenix, but also with her holistic approach to skincare.
"Phoenix herbal balms and skin care are uniquely formulated for your experience of the healing energy of plants, their natural scent, and surprisingly beneficial properties. Trend-setting botanical creations infused with fresh plants. All our ingredients are organic or wildcrafted, and locally sourced whenever possible. Absolutely no synthetics in our perfumes or skincare."
I had the distinct pleasure of trying a few of the items of her range, which I'll detail here (clockwise from top left in pic).
Wildflower Nourishing Face Serum
A warm and lovely facial oil with top notes of chamomile and lavender. A great pic for someone with sensitive skin, the serum also contains yarrow which is highly regarded for its calming properties. Infused in jojoba, which is the oil most similar to skin's natural sebum, this is a lighter oil and perfect for warmer months.
Ingredients: Organic jojoba, grapeseed and argan oils. Queen Anne's lace cold pressed oil, elder and lavender flowers, essential oils of lavender, chamomile, yarrow.
Vanilla Butter
A decadent, moisturizing face, hands and body butter drenched in fresh organic Vanilla. In addition to the skin-nourishing gifts of shea butter and jojoba, vanilla oil is supremely moisturizing and of course smells delish! This is a great little tub to keep on the nightstand or throw in your purse.
Ingredients: organic shea butter, organic jojoba oil, organic vanilla beans.
Wild Rose Face & Eye Serum
A simple and potent serum starring the Rose, queen flower of love and beauty- known for her skin-toning and rejuvenating gifts. High in skin nourishing vitamin C from the Rosehip oil and Sea Buckthorn (my holy grail oil, read more about it here), the serum does not have a strong scent which is good for those who are sensitive to smells. While this would not replace an eye cream for me, it would be great to layer over your cream (especially if you use a retinol based one).
Ingredients: organic jojoba, organic almond oil, organic rosehip oil, wild rose petals, organic rose otto, organic sea buckthorn oil
Wild Rose Balm
First off, this lip balm comes in one of the cutest packages I've ever seen in a stick form. Soothing, toning and moisturizing, it's also great for small areas of the face, cuticles etc. Rose and rose hips are especially helpful for damaged, irritated or dry skin conditions.
Ingredients: wild rose petals, organic olive oil, organic shea butter, local beeswax, organic rosehip & jojoba oils, organic rose otto.
Phoenix Eyes
Boasting a host of moisturizing oils and regenerative sea buckthorn, this is an all-around lovely eye balm. I've been enjoying layering it over my nighttime eye cream to really lock in the moisture and age-fighting ingredients. It's also a good pick to wear during the day to act as a barrier on delicate eye skin against city dirt, soot, etc. or protect from wind burn (just be mindful of any prolonged sun exposure however as this does not contain spf). During the colder months, the oils in this tend to solidify which results in a bit of finessing needed to get it out of the jar. Once you warm between your ring fingers though, it's easy to pat and spread under the eye area.
I hope you enjoyed this review of a unique and high caliber local brand! Irina's attention to detail even extends to the muslin bags the products arrive in, which can be used as reusable teabags.
