Simply Divine Botanicals review

Back to business! I've been a fan of Simply Divine Botanicals for quite a few months now. So much so that I featured one of their products in my very first blog post.  The problem is, I want to buy ALL their products. Lo and behold, on a recent trip to Live Live (if you're in or around NYC I highly recommend this store; they make Bee Yummy and also carry RMS) I spied a sample pouch from Simply Divine and thought that this was the perfect way for me to try several of their products without breaking the bank.

Contents include:

Black Velvet Foaming Facial Cleanser 1/2 oz.
Body Butter 1/4 oz

Skincredible 1/4 oz.

At $39.95 this was actually a really affordable way for me to try many of their delightful items (and some of the small pots actually lasted me for weeks!).  This would be far too long of a post for me to discuss every sample, so I'll highlight some of the standouts for you.

Amazing face - billed as a good balancing moisturizer for combo skin, it is just that.  The combination of Bulgarian rosewater, lemon, sage and rosemary give it such a fresh smell - it's perfect in the morning when I need to wake my face (and self) up. It contains so many wonderful essential oils - many of my favorites like sandalwood, patchouli and helichrysum.  The only detractor for me is that I usually avoid anything citrusy on my face as the rosacea doesn't react well to it. So, while I love the smell that the lemon and grapefruit lend, this won't be a permanent addition to my collection. If you have normal or combo skin however, this is truly a winner.

INGREDIENTS: Unconditional Love and Gratitude, Organic Whole-Leaf Aloe Vera, Organic Apple Cider Vinegar, Bulgarian Rosewater,Witch Hazel, Rosehip Seed Oil, Evening Primrose Oil, Macadamia Oil, Jojoba Oil, MSM, Oleic Sunflower Oil, Beeswax, Camellia Oil, Black Currant Seed Oil, Shea Butter, Coconut Oil, Castor Oil, Borax, Liposome Vitamin C, Lemon Balm, Chamomile, Rosemary, Sage, Calendula, Cranesbill, Comfrey, Lavender, Rooibos, Sandalwood, Tangerine, Carrot Seed, Frankincense, Vitamin E, Rose Geranium, Grapefruit seed Extract, Lemongrass, Myrrh, Patchouli, Helichrysum and Co-enzyme Q-10.

Body Butter - as I mentioned in my very first post evah, I am uuhhhbsessed with the sandalwood body butter.  It is super moisturizing and I've never smelled anything better to be honest. The sample I received in this bag was the lavender butter which is also wonderful. I keep it by my bedside, and just a whiff of it before sleep helps relax me.  This would be a purchase for me in both scents.

How Now Brown Cacao Butter - this is truly almost too delicious smelling to not eat (and you probably could, but I don't recommend it). My hands have started to get really dry now that the weather's colder and I have to fight the urge to lick my hand when I put it on, it's just creamy chocolatey goodness.

INGREDIENTS: Unconditional Love and Gratitude, Beeswax, Organic Raw Cacao Butter, Organic Virgin Coconut Cream, Organic Whole leaf Aloe Vera, Organic Sunflower Oil, Organic Avocado Oil, MSM, Borax and Cacao Absolute.

Creme de Rose and Rose du Jour - the former is the founder's personal fave and I love it too. I especially like that the first ingredient is aloe as it's great for sensitive (as well as dry) skin. The Rose du Jour is a lighter formula and would be perfect for me in the summer or for those with oilier skin. The smell is heavenly - and perhaps it's the vanilla combined with the tuberose etc. that makes it so. I honestly love them both. Right now I'm using both samples in the morning - the Creme on my cheeks as it's a bit heavier, and the du Jour on my T zone. As a sidenote, they do both contain coconut so if you're breakout prone/sensitive to that oil, I would proceed with caution with these.

Skincredible - one of the first products that I became familiar with when first acquainted with the brand, this is one of my absolute faves. Someone once gave me a small carving from India made out of sandalwood and this.smells.like.that! I've been using it nightly and have to stick it under my nose and inhale a few times before I put it on because the smell is that intoxicating. According to Simply Divine, it was originally created for Rosacea, and while I haven't noticed as much of an impact as I have with Sea Buckthorn oil (this perhaps is due to the clove which as a "hot" oil is a bit of a no-no for red/irritated skin) it wouldn't prevent me from purchasing as I love the array of ingredients.  It's a light moisturizer so as it's winter, I've been layering it under my Evan Healy argan serum (which also contains sandalwood) nightly post-cleanse.

INGREDIENTS: Unconditional Love and Gratitude, Spring Water Electrolyzed with 24kt Gold, Organic Cold Pressed Tamanu oil, Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip seed oil, Essential oils of : Hyssop, Austrailian and East African Sandalwood,Spikenard, Rosewood, Geranium, Lavender, Cinnamon, Chamomile, Fennel, Frankincense, Myrrh, Helichrysum, Rose, Patchouli, Palmarosa, Jasmine, Neroli, Idaho Tansy, Marestail, Clove and Lemongrass, Potassium and Magnesium.

Peel Me a Papaya - this comes out as a powder so you need to mix with a little water on damp skin prior to application. It took me a minute to get the right balance. Papaya is a great fruit enzyme exfoliant however the bran and cornmeal make this also a physical exfoliant which I'm trying to steer clear from so as to not aggravate my very sensitive skin.

INGREDIENTS: Unconditional Love and Gratitude, White Kaolin Clay, Dehydrated Coconut Milk, Dehydrated Organic Green Papaya, Organic Oat Bran, Rice Bran, Organic Cornmeal, and Organic powdered Roses, Lavender, Calendula, and Chamomile.

Honey I Shrunk the Pores - well honey I love this product!  I'm not usually concerned about my pores, I figure unless someone's up in my grill with one of those magnifying mirrors (which perhaps I stay away from for that very reason), if I don't think about them, it's like they don't exist. Like how they tell you if you're camping and you run into a wild bear, if you don't look it in the eye it won't mess with you..that's kind of like my relationship with my pores.  For that reason this wasn't even one of the samples I was most eager about, but as it's a mask and I was in the mood to do one, I tried it. It.was.amazing...the smell...the smell...I can't even really describe it. It was rose petaly and fresh and kind of woody all at the same time.  The consistency is like jam, and you leave it on for 15 minutes. Afterwards my face felt baby soft.  This will definitely be a purchase for me. Perhaps it's the first step toward looking my pores in the eye..
